Creating and Managing Your Story

2 min read·Last updated July 18, 2026

Stories on the platform are organized into seasons and episodes, like a TV series, so readers can follow one episode at a time.

Creating a story

To start a new story, go to your dashboard and choose to create a story. You will be asked to give it a title, a synopsis, and a genre, and you can add a cover image, either your own or one generated with AI.

Seasons and episodes

Every story is made up of one or more seasons, and every season is made up of episodes. This structure lets you publish your story gradually, the same way readers are used to following an ongoing series, rather than posting one long piece all at once.

You can add a new episode to your current season at any time, and when you are ready to start a new arc of your story, you can open a new season.

Locking episodes and seasons

As the creator, you decide what stays free and what requires a story subscription to unlock. You can lock individual episodes or lock an entire season at once, which is useful if you want to reserve a full arc of your story for subscribers. For more on how this works from a reader’s side, see the Subscriptions support article.

Story status

Your story can be marked as ongoing or completed, so readers know whether to expect more episodes or whether the story has reached its ending.

Editing and publishing

You can edit your story’s details, cover, and episodes at any time from your dashboard. New episodes are saved as drafts until you choose to publish them, giving you full control over what your readers see and when they see it.
